Road Trip
Okay so I went on the road trip this weekend, traveling to see friends in TN, GA, and winding up in Tampa, FL. Pretty cool trip, relatively uneventful except for Saturday afternoon. After stopping Saturday to see friends in GA, I got back on the road and headed south from Atlanta. As I neared Macon, GA, I decided to skip the bypass and head straight thorough town as it was after rush-hour. That's when the excitement began. As I passed the exit, and went under the overpass, I noticed a pickup truck sitting in the median and someone waving something out the window. So I pulled over and backed back up under the bridge, and got out. Figuring they must be stuck in the truck or something, I decided to call 911. When the 911 operator answered "911, what is your emergency?" I almost started laughing at the surrealism of it all. I thought, Man, they really do way that! However, I did not laugh as to the seriousness of the situation and proceeded to tell her what I had seen and where I was. When I finished with the operator, I decided to go see if they were okay. I then crossed two busy lanes of the interstate and climbed over the guard rail and into the ditch. It is pouring down rain, and in minutes I am soaked to the skin. Fun times! When I got to the truck, I noticed that the bed and guard rail were completely mangled. There was stuff scattered all through the ditch, which I assume used to be in the bed. As I got to the window, the lady in the passenger seat is just hysterical, crying and screaming about her baby. Who, thankfully was strapped into a car seat! Both the man and woman were bleeding profusely from cuts and scratches on their faces and hands. She is still screaming to help the baby and I am just freaked...what do I do? I know enough not to move anyone and just tried calming them down. Thankfully, another man stopped and came to help. He was an EMT...a God-send! We got the carseat loose and I took the baby up to the bridge out of the rain. I got to play with the baby under the bridge in the rain until the paramedics arrived. Thankfully everyone was okay but so freaky! I have never been in that position before...nice to know I can handle myself and the situation. It was a situation that made you feel very lucky and I was so glad I could help those people. With the rain coming down, who knows how long or IF someone else would have stopped. I was definitely awake for the rest of my drive into FL that night! The rest of the trip was uneventful but a lot of fun!

Freaky start, but at least you ended up having a good time.
I know...wasn't it? I still can't get over the entire incident...I mean what if I hadn't stopped...would someone else have stopped? Just glad I could help.
